Your Survival May Depend on This; Don’t Forget to Pack This Away!

When there is no doctor or antibiotics, what then?

You have food reserves to get you through an emergency. Some water. Probably some gold or silver. Maybe some defense weapons. But medical help will probably be no more available than food, and under these conditions, disease and infections will probably be rampant. Ordinary first aid supplies are obviously not enough.

But there is good news and its called “colloidal silver”. From the time man first learned to work with silver he has known that it prevented the spread of disease. Thus the wealthy people had silver drinking cups, silver tableware and utensils. Even those who could have had gold, which does not tarnish, usually chose silver because it promoted health. In the days before refrigeration, farmers tossed a silver coin in a bucket of milk to preserve it. Chemists put a silver dime in their petri dish to sterilize it. For hundreds of years it was common practice to place a silver wire in an infected wound that refused to heal.

The difference between survival and not

All of this makes colloidal silver perfect for survival conditions. It has such a broad spectrum of effectiveness (practically all bacteria, virus, yeasts, molds, parasites) and at the same time has a miraculous healing quality. Most people taking it orally say they feel better and notice more energy. It even prevents plaque from forming on teeth. Therefore, an exact diagnosis is not required as with antibiotics. If the mouth is rinsed with one ounce daily and then swallowed, the plaque is stopped, gingivitis is soon healed, the breath is sweet, colds and flues are gone, candida is soon cleared up, yeast infections of the blood disappear, the immune system is restored! Internal surgeries heal much faster and with much less scarring!

Colloidal silver can be used orally, topically, by enema, douche, or by a doctor intravenously. The exact dosage is not critical because it is non-toxic at virtually all levels. However, common practice is to start orally with about one ounce a day at 20 parts per million as a maintenance dosage. When treating a chronic internal condition, that dosage could be doubled each day until a dosage of four ounces in the morning and four ounces in the evening at 20 parts per million is reached. Always watch for a rash breaking out on the skin when first taking colloidal silver. This is not an allergic reaction or a side effect in the common sense. It is usually caused by killing off yeast in the blood or intestines so fast that the body cannot properly dispose of them. It is a healthy sign but may be very uncomfortable due to itching. Furthermore, you do not want to overload the body’s cleansing abilities. Therefore it is best to reduce the intake of colloidal silver when this occurs. when the rash disappears, as it normally does in a day or so, gradually increase it.

When disaster strikes

Colloidal silver is especially valuable in case of disaster as well as whenever camping or traveling because the water often cannot be trusted. One ounce of colloidal silver at 20 parts per million in one quart of water assures the safety of the water for drinking. It is the finest disinfectant known, being totally non-toxic and non allergenic as well an non-caustic. Used on the scalp, it stops most cases of itching. It is great for the hands and face and reduces skin wrinkling over a period of time. It heals warts (virus), athletes foot, and nail fungus. It effectively treats many skin rashes although some rashes get worse before getting better.

The only natural antibiotic that lasts forever!

How to Survive When There is No Safe Drinking Water

Water means life!

We can’t live without it. Not for long – only a few days, at most one week. In fact, water is the one thing that we need the most, to survive.

The American Red Cross advises to use bleach to purify your drinking water.  What they fail to tell you is that bleach is a toxic poison, not really your best choice!

Far too often, survival minded ‘preppers’ think of and concentrate on storing extra food, with lesser regard for storing water. For some reason, there is an underlying assumption that obtaining water during an emergency or disaster will not be a problem. For some, this may be true, especially if they live right next to a plentiful source of water. But for those that rely on a steady supply of water from their faucet, think again.

Without electricity, most homes will quickly lose their water pressure as municipal pumps will be unable to supply. Don’t count on municipal generators to keep on pumping your water or to be in every pump location where they need to be.

The general rule for storing water for an emergency or disaster is 1 gallon per person per day.

There are variations to this generality, ranging from a half gallon to as much as 3 gallons per person per day because there are other uses for water besides just drinking.

A problem that you will encounter during an emergency or disaster is not only obtaining water to drink, but treating it to make the water safe to drink.

Boil water, if you can…

A best way to treat water for drinking is to boil it first. Well, almost boiling… you don’t actually have to heat water all the way to boiling to rid it of microorganisms.

According to the Wilderness Medical Society, water temperatures above 160° F (70° C) kill all pathogens within 30 minutes and above 185° F (85° C) within a few minutes. So in the time it takes for the water to reach the boiling point (212° F or 100° C) from 160° F (70° C), all pathogens will be killed, even at high altitude. To be extra safe, let the water boil rapidly for one minute, especially at higher altitudes since water boils at a lower temperature.

If boiling is not possible, or to add a layer of protection after boiling (after cool down), another very effective way to make water safe to drink is to add a specific amount of household bleach. Bleach contains about 5 to 6 percent chlorine, which will disinfect the water if added in the right amount. First things first. If the water is cloudy and contains sediment, it should be strained through a filter by using a cloth or coffee filter (use your common sense here with whatever is available). Of course if you have a “real” water filter with you, you’re safe to begin with.

How to purify water with Bleach, a TOXIC POISON!

According to the American Red Cross,

  • Use regular liquid bleach (any brand). The only active ingredient should be sodium hypochlorite (concentration 5.25 – 6 percent). If you also see sodium hydroxide on the ingredient list, it is apparently OK and safe. Do not use bleach that contain soaps, perfumes, or dyes. Be sure to read the label.
  • Add 16 drops (basically, one-eighth US teaspoon) of regular liquid bleach per one gallon of water. Use 8 drops if using a 2-liter bottle. Get a dropper!
  • Mix thoroughly and let stand for 30 minutes.
  • Then, smell the water. If the water has a faint smell of chlorine, then it is OK to use. If you cannot detect any chlorine odor, add another 16 drops of regular liquid bleach (8 drops for 2-liter bottle). Let stand, and smell it again. If you still cannot smell chlorine, discard it and find another water source.

How Long Can You Survive Without Safe Drinking Water?

Importance of Adequate Water

When faced with a survival situation, clean drinkable water is often the most important consideration. People have survived without food for weeks or even months, but go without water for even just one day and the survivor will be in desperate straights indeed.

Knowing that water is by far the most important nutrient for the human body (besides oxygen) and, in particular, during a survival situation when finding potable water may not be easy, the question becomes – just how long can the human body survive without adequate water?

To maintain a high level of health and efficiency even in ideal environments, a minimum of two quarts of clean water per day per person is the generally accepted rule of thumb. In very hot or cold or very dry environments, or if you are physically active, two quarts of water a day may not be enough to sustain life over a period of days or weeks.

Water lost through sweating and normal respiration must be replaced in order to stay healthy and function at top efficiency. Water is also needed to process the food you eat, especially if it is salty or you eat heavy foods like meat.

One Ounce of NutraSilver® = 1,200 liters of purified drinking water

What would you prefer to use; a bulky stove and propane, chlorine (toxic) or a one ounce bottle that kills all water-born pathogens? In FDA-certified independent lab tests, NutraSilver killed virtually all water-born pathogens in a few short minutes. One ounce of NutraSilver will supply a person with 1.6 YEARS of safe drinking water!

Effects of Going Without Water

Although two thirds of the human body by weight is composed of water, this water is needed for circulation and other bodily processes including respiration and converting food to energy. If you are losing more water than you are taking in, dehydration will occur.

It has been shown that if you lose just 2.5% of your body weight from water loss, you will loose 25% of your efficiency. For a 175 pound man that is only about two quarts of water. As the survivor dehydrates, his blood becomes thicker and loses volume. This causes the heart to work harder and circulation of blood to be less efficient. In a survival situation, loosing a full one quarter of your physical and mental abilities due to dehydration could mean the end of your life. Bottom line: drink plenty of fluids whether you feel thirsty or not so that you stay a peak efficiency.

Purification

And while you may think any water will do in a pinch, water that is not purified may make you sick, possibly even killing you. In a survival situation, with little or no medical attention available, you need to remain as healthy as possible. And a bad case of the runs is terribly uncomfortable in the best of times!

Boiling water is the best method for purifying running water you gather from natural sources. It doesn’t require any chemicals, or expensive equipment — all you need is a large pot and a good fire or similar heat source. Plus, a rolling boil for 20 or 30 minutes should kill common bacteria such as guardia and cryptosporidium. One should consider that boiling water will not remove foreign contaminants such as radiation or heavy metals.

Outside of boiling, commercial purification/filter devices made by companies such as PUR or Katadyn are the best choices. They range in size from small pump filters designed for backpackers to large filters designed for entire camps. Probably the best filtering devices for survival retreats are the model where you pour water into the top and allow it to slowly seep through the media into a reservoir on the bottom. No pumping is required.

On the down side, most such filtering devices are expensive and have a limited capacity.

You Decide

  1. Camp stove and butane canisters (heavy)
  2. Chlorine tablets (toxic)
  3. Water filters (need replacement and expensive)
  4. 1.6 years of safe water carried in your pocket ($.03 per liter)

Seems simple, right?

The Benefits and Risks of Colloidal Silver

What is colloidal silver?

Colloidal silver products are liquids that contain minute silver particles, the same type of silver that is used in jewelry and traditional dental filings. They are dietary supplements taken orally to assist in the treatment of many conditions, from Morgellons and Lyme disease to water purification and food poisoning. Toxins are ingested every day, from the food and beverages we ingest to the air we breathe. Many food products have been treated with chemicals that genetically alter them from their natural state. Our bodies do not know how to digest these chemicals. As a result, we may feel tired and run down.

How Does colloidal Silver React in the Human Body?

In more serious cases we get very ill, with unusually high body temperatures and the inability to keep food in our stomachs. Colloidal silver products have been developed to reach every area of the body to destroy the toxins hiding there, such as bacteria, viruses and any other single celled pathogen. This is done without harm to the naturally occurring enzymes and other chemicals that are essential to maintaining balanced body chemistry. As a result, energy levels increase and we are able to concentrate better. When our immune system is given a boost, we live healthier, more active lives.

How Long have People Used Colloidal Silver?

Silver has been used as an antiseptic and disinfectant for decades. It kills bacteria in wounds and is used in dressings to treat eternal infections. Colloidal silver is developed using the latest technologies to purify the silver making it safe for internal use. The key to the potency and effectiveness of the product lies in the size of the particles. There are many products that enable users to manufacture similar products at home. However, the dosage and manufacturing instructions are frequently not followed. This causes more harm than good. With so much potential risk, most users choose to purchase products that are certified for zero toxicity.

Can Colloidal Silver Kill Water-borne Pathogens?

There are many dangerous pathogens in drinking water in much of the world. In developing countries, colloidal silver is used to clean the water for drinking and for rinsing fresh fruits and vegetables. Many backpackers and international travelers carry this type of product to ensure their water is safe to drink, no matter where they are. These products are odorless and tasteless, and have no proven adverse reactions with medications. When used consistently, it may help improve digestion, and prevent colds. How Effective is NutraSilver on Lyme Disease?

The answer at this time is simple; we still do not know.  Some Lyme disease sufferers report little if any results, while others report astounding results.

Tick bite and Lyme "bulls-eye rash"

Lyme disease is a very complex and controversial disease, to say the least.  Many MD’s and scientists still believe it does not exist. Others have devoted their lives to the treatment and irradiation of the disease.

The reader may recall a picture of President George W. Bush sporting a very large Lyme lesion under his left eye in November of 2007.  For those who endure Lyme, it certainly is as real as their painful existences.

Der Tick

Interestingly enough, many NutraSilver users with Lyme disease report that within a few weeks they experienced a dramatic and profound reduction of symptoms and some have even reported that their symptoms have left them entirely.  The joy that is expressed by these new symptom-free Lyme people is amazing. Most report that they are able to resume their lives as if they never had Lyme disease; they return to work, their families and their social lives pain-free.

The foundation of Lyme Disease is Borealis bacteria. The key word here is bacteria. NutraSilver paralyses an enzyme within the bacteria that allows it to metabolize oxygen; the bacterium suffocates and dies in about 5 to 6 minutes.  Many of the co-infections associated with Lyme are bacteria, viruses and yeast-based pathogens. NutraSilver has shown to be effective against these pathogens in FDA-certified lab tests and most recently in MRSA lab tests.

NutraSilver® Effectiveness

NutraSilver® has undergone extensive testing by third-party laboratories, validating its effectiveness in killing a variety of water borne bacteria.

There is no doubt that more research is warranted and we invite those interested in discovering the real truth about the effectiveness of NutraSilver to identify themselves and work together to unravel the mystery of Lyme disease and how NutraSilver can play a role in elimination of Lyme disease from the human body.

List of Lyme Disease Symptoms

Every organ and organ system can be affected, here’s a list of some of the Lyme Disease symptoms as they relate to

Hikers need to be careful to not get bitten by ticks

specific areas of the body:

  • Head – headache, neck pain, facial pain and paralysis, difficulty chewing, pain in teeth, dry mouth, loss of taste/smell, numb tongue/mouth. Peculiar metallic or salty taste is also common in LD. This is likely due to the BLPs present in the system.
  • Bladder — frequent or painful urination, repeated urinary tract infections, irritable bladder, interstitial cystitis.
  • Lung — respiratory infection, cough, asthma, pneumonia, pleurisy, chest pains
  • Ear — pain, hearing loss, ringing (tinnitus), sensitivity to noise, dizziness & equilibrium disorders.
  • Eyes — pain due to inflammation (sclerotic, uveitis, optic neuritis), dry eyes, sensitivity to light, drooping of eyelid (ptosis), conjunctivitis, blurry or double vision, swelling around eyes / bags below the eyes.
  • Throat — sore throat, swollen glands, cough, hoarseness, difficulty swallowing
  • Neurological — headaches, facial paralysis, seizures, meningitis, stiff neck, burning, tingling, or prickling sensations (parenthesis), loss of reflexes, loss of coordination, equilibrium problems/dizziness (these symptoms mimic an MS, ALS, or Parkinson’s like syndrome)
  • Stomach — pain, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramps, anorexia
  • Heart — weakness, dizziness, irregular heart-beat, myocarditis, pericarditis, palpitations, heart block, enlarged heart, fainting, shortness of breath, chest pain, mitral valve prolapse.
  • Muscle & skeletal system — arthralgias (joint pain), fibromyalgia (muscle inflammation and pain)
  • Other Organs — liver infection / hepatitis, elevated liver enzymes, enlarged spleen, swollen testicles, and irregular or ceased menses.
  • Neuropsychiatric — mood swings, irritability, anxiety, rage (Lyme rage), poor concentration, cognitive loss, memory loss, loss of appetite, mental deterioration, depression, disorientation, insomnia
  • Pregnancy — miscarriage, premature birth, birth defects, stillbirth
  • Skin – EM, single or multiple rash, hives, ACA
  • Another interesting symptom often noticed is an increased susceptibility to electrostatic shock. This is likely due to the BLPs causing a change in the electro-potential in our cells/nervous system.
  • Some of these toxins are likely sodium channel agonists and can change the electrical potential of our body. Thus, the likelihood of electro-static shock.

One or more of these symptoms is not diagnostic for LD, except for a bulls-eye EM rash. A diagnosis for LD is a clinical one and must be made by a physician experienced in recognizing LD symptoms and history, experienced in interpreting lab results and recognizing a response to treatment. Always remember that negative serological tests are not reliable and cannot be used solely for a diagnosis. These tests frequently are incorrectly negative.

The Bottom Line

  • Lyme disease, when diagnosed early, is readily treatable with oral antibiotics.

Caught early, Lyme is easy to eradicate with simple antibiotics

  • Positive antibody tests, by themselves, do not provide a sufficient basis for diagnosing Lyme disease. The diagnosis should be based on the overall clinical picture, including medical history and physical findings.
  • Negative antibody testing after the first few weeks strongly suggests that the patient does not have Lyme disease.
  • Many patients with chronic, nonspecific symptoms (such as headaches, fatigue, muscle aches, mental confusion, or sleep disturbances) mistakenly believe they have Lyme disease.
  • Intravenous antibiotic therapy, when given appropriately, should not last more than a month. It should not be given unless oral antibiotic therapy has failed and persistent active infection has been demonstrated by culture, biopsy, or other bacteriologic technique.
  • Malariotherapy, intracellular hyperthermia therapy, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, colloidal silver, dietary supplements, and herbs are not appropriate measures for treating Lyme disease. Doctors who recommend them should be avoided.

Backpacking and Safe Drinking Water

Those who enjoy outdoors activity are constantly concerned about the safety and quality of the water they drink.  Tradition methods are far from ideal and create more gear to carry and more time to spend instead of enjoy the great outdoors! Never assume that untreated water is safe to drink just because a person is in the mountains or in a remote place. More than one thirsty backpacker has greedily quenched his or her thirst with unfiltered mountain water only to discover a dead animal or excrement only a little ways upstream.

The two major types of water impurities are biological and chemical. Most wilderness areas and hiking terrain are at higher elevations and above or up stream of any outposts of “civilization”. So in most wilderness areas chemical contamination is not a real problem. The primary exception to this rule of thumb is in some desert areas where dissolved chemicals may reach toxic levels through evaporation.

e Coli Bacterium

Biological impurities on the other hand potentially exist in almost any water source except possibly right at a spring because they are carried not only by other hikers but also by animals. Biological contaminates may be microorganisms, bacteria, or viruses.

The two most common microorganisms to contaminate a hiker’s water sources are Giardia and Cryptosporidiosis. Chemical treatments are typically less effective against these than boiling or filters.

Many different forms of bacteria and viruses may also cause discomfort if ingested from contaminated water sources. Coliform and E coli are bacteria sometimes found in water that may be contaminated with human or animal wastes. Microbes in these wastes can cause short-term effects, such as diarrhea, cramps, nausea, headaches, or other symptoms. Boiling and chemical treatments are typically more effective against bacteria and viruses than are filters.

Backpacking Water Purification by Boiling

Backpacking water purification by boiling does readily kill giardia. And you don’t need to do it for five minutes as some literature states. Just bring the water to a boil and giardia will be dead.

The problem is that if you are on a major hike or backpacking trip, you probably don’t have this overwhelming desire to carry the amount of fuel needed to boil water for days. You also may not want to spend your time doing this type of water purification, when you could be hiking or reading. If it’s hot, and the humidity is low, you should be drinking about a quart an hour when you are backpacking. You can easily down 7-10 quarts a day. You’d spend all your time and fuel boiling drinking water for giardia if you had to purify water that way. More importantly, boiling does not kill most water-borne pathogens and leaves the hiker vulnerable to illness in the wilderness.

Water Filters

Water filters have been the preferred method of getting rid of water on the hiking trails of much of the world. In the United States, water filters are used in all wilderness areas. They have the advantage of “no taste.”

The other main advantage is that they produce purified water relatively quickly. Once you run the water through the filter you can drink it immediately. The problem is that water filters are expensive, wear out (need filter replacement) and are usually bulky and heavy to carry.

Chemical Treatment of Water

Chemical treatment of water offers yet another option. Many wilderness veterans swear by the use of iodine tablets or iodine crystals. One advantage that iodine has over filters is weight and bulk. A small bottle of iodine tablets weighs only a couple of ounces and takes up hardly any space in the backpack. Disadvantages for iodine treatment include off-taste, discoloration of plastic drinking containers.

Chlorine

Probably the least effective, chlorine is somewhat unstable, adds some taste to the water, and leaves behind some chemical residue now associated with a small cancer risk. Commonly known for it’s toxicity.

Iodine

More effective than chlorine, but deteriorates when exposed to sunlight, and leaves behind an unpleasant taste, iodine is another option. It may not be suitable for people with certain types of thyroid conditions.

A New Natural Way to Purify Water

There is a new product, NutraSilver that kills all water-borne pathogens very quickly. It cost about $ .05 per liter

Next generation Colloidal Silver

and weights 1 ounce so it is easy to carry. There are approximately 600 drops per bottle so it lasts a long time. Since you are not primarily concerned about chemicals, your main interest is to kill pathogens in your drinking water. NutraSilver is totally non-toxic, unlike iodine and chlorine so it is perfectly safe to use.

NutraSilver has been used in third-world countries for over a decade and millions of lives have been saved by using this product. Every claim made here is supported by FDA-certified lab reports and can be viewed by clicking here.

Why NutraSilver?

Well, NutraSilver weighs one ounce.  You no longer need to carry supplies to boil water, nor do you have to ingest and toxicity like chlorine pills. NutraSilver is safe, easy to use and kills bacteria, fungus and viruses.  And the best part? You can make 1,200 liters of safe drinking water in just one, one ounce bottle! So, where can you get this amazing water purifier? Right here!

Safe Drinking Water While Backpacking

Those who enjoy outdoors activity are constantly concerned about the safety and quality of the water they drink. Traditional methods are far from ideal and create more gear to carry and more time to spend instead of enjoy the great outdoors! Never assume that untreated water is safe to drink just because a person is in the mountains or in a remote place. More than one thirsty backpacker has greedily quenched his or her thirst with unfiltered mountain water only to discover a dead animal or excrement only a little ways upstream.

You can rack up quite a thirst while hiking, but you don’t want to be drinking water out in the woods without doctoring it up some. Yes, the good old boys in the old Westerns used to sip from the creek when thirsty (unless of course there was a skull nearby), but like a lot of movie stuff, don’t try that at home – or at camp. Read on . . . .

Today’s natural water sources are nearly always home to such invisible characters like Giardia lamblia, Cryptosporidium, and other nasty “bugs”. Generally, these protozoa and bacteria and viruses won’t kill you, but just make you wish you were dead before they run their course – run being the operative word here. Where’d these nasty’s come from? The worst come from mostly other people, or rather their feces to be more exact, but animal feces cause problems too – so sipping from the creek 100 years ago was still a risky proposition.

So what to do? If you can’t carry all the water you need from home or known potable source – like off the shelf at Kroger’s – here are some options.

Boiling works – just bringing a pot of water to rolling boil will wipe out everything you’d need to worry about as far as bacteria and viruses (boil longer at higher elevations), but does little for mud or chemicals in the water. Now you have hot muddy water, but drinkable.

Water filters – filters designed for backwoods use will take out most bacteria and chemicals, but not viruses – they’re too small for most filters to catch. Although viruses are generally the cause of traveler’s diarrhea – Montezuma’s Revenge, etc – in other countries, they are not considered that much of a threat in most North American wilderness areas. That threat seems to be increasing though, particularly in high-use camping areas.

Add treatment solutions – chlorine, if you use enough of it for long enough, will kill bacteria and viruses, but not do anything for chemicals and sediment and maybe not all protozoa . Iodine works like that as well, but may offer limited protection against Cryptosporidium. And either makes the water taste somewhere between the flavor of a public swimming pool and some first aid ointment. Chlorine is known as a toxic poison.

Most of the time, in most cases, in most hiking areas – catch that loophole? – a good water filter is all you need. Drop the inlet hose into the water source, pump away on the handle, and let the water from the outlet hose go into your water bladder or other container. It’s pretty safe to drink then.

If you want to go from “pretty safe” to “real safe”, invest in a few drops of chlorine-based treatment solution to wipe out anything that’s left. Add a few drops, shake, and let it sit for about 10 minutes to work its magic. Household bleach has the same basic ingredients, but the concentration levels are way out of whack compared to the stuff specifically designed for hiking-related water treatment.
